I eat there when I don't feel like making breakfast
Not familiar with the area and I just wanted a simple breakfast. Not at a big box chain or some pretentious brunch bistro. Found this place on yelp and it did not disappoint. Small place in a tiny strip mall but don't be fooled. One waitress doing it all and she seemed to know most of the people. One regular came over to our table to share a joke on his way out. Friendly. Clean. Delicious. Reasonable prices. I'll be back next time I'm in town.
I love this place so much. The staff is super friendly and although the place is small its very accommodating. The food is great and the prices are decent
I am not much of a breakfast person. But when my husband and I were in Norfolk for the weekend, this was one of the places that he wanted to try out.
The Big Grill is nice, cosy and locally owned restaurant. It was exactly what I was looking for a place owned by locals, frequented by locals! We were seated as soon as we walked in-and we came just at the right time too because it had gotten quite busy by the time we left. We placed our orders with the friendly server and we didn't wait long for our food to arrive.
The portions are quite generous. I had the Southwestern Omelette and it was delicious. Stuffed with ham, mushrooms, tomatoes green peppers, and cheese and topped with salsa, jalapeño and sour cream, I enjoyed every single bite! My husband ordered their French toast as well as the Western Omelette. I will tell you, not much talking was done because we were busy enjoying our food!
I make it a point to always try and eat at a place that's locally owned when visiting a new place. You can tell a lot about the city and its people when you eat at local businesses. The Big Grill is definitely a place I would visit and eat at if we ever find ourselves in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area again!
Wow! Not what I expected! The Big Grill is a classic diner in a small space. I had a classic steak and eggs breakfast with hash browns. The steak was big, tender, and juicy. I would say it's one of the best breakfast steaks I've had...ever...anywhere. That's all I'm going to say on that topic. Otherwise, the hashbrowns were tasty and came with the option to add whatever extras you wanted like peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc. That was a nice option. The service was friendly and attentive. I liked the fact that the coffee cups are an eclectic mix that could have come straight out of grandma's cupboard. It's a small thing but gives you the feeling that The Big Grill is like a home that cares about its guests.
Friendly local place, friendly wait staff. Hot and delicious coffee. I got the big breakfast sandwich. Delicious and hot. A++
2nd time here, got a Cuban sandwich and onion rings.. both perfect
Big Grill has never let me down. The food is great, the servers are friendly and I am satisfied every time I leave.
Found this place doing a Google search for breakfast near me after my Uber morning shift. LOVED it! Got the Big Grill scramble with a side of their house-made jalapeño sauce. Washed it down with hot chocolate. I appreciate small places like this that put love and care into their food and service. If you are tired of the chain places; this is a must-visit for those in the VB town center area! Like the terminator said, "I'll be back!" Update-Returned 4mo later. Got the Corn beef hash special. Loved it! Family and local food gem. Atmosphere and service is the best. Food coma is on the horizon! ♥️
I love smaller places like this. Breakfast was great. The servers were very friendly, and the price was excellent.
Quintessential diner. If you don't want to eat here, you're the odd person. I came here for biscuits and gravy. Since I've been back, the B&G has been mediocre. I knew there had to be a good one out there. Then I saw the photo of the B&G here; off white with sausage chunks. I went there and ordered. It was everything I wanted. That nice fatty mouth feel from the sausage, not too loose, on a buttery biscuit. The home fries had that nice crust on the bottom. Sunny side eggs had the whites set and the yolks runny. Bacon served crispy. There is a lot of food for $14.99. Very easy-going atmosphere. Half a dozen counter stools, a few deuces, some four tops, and a couple of six tops. Homey decor, but nothing kitschy (thank god). Exhibition kitchen, and you get a great view from the counter. The staff is super nice and straightforward. Service is quick and efficient. Smiles abound, and the patrons respond. Lovely place, lovely people, going back soon.
Prepare to be pleasantly surprised! The service was impeccable, and the food exceeded all expectations in both quantity and quality. Timely delivery and a delightful surprise awaited us in the form of exceptionally good coffee. We both savored the mouthwatering "Big Grill Scramble" dish. Highly recommended!
Amazing small local spot with some of the most hospitable staff members! I always feel so welcomed when I dine here. They have a lot of great food options as well for a reasonable price! Last time I visited, I had the chicken sandwich and it was pretty big! Great overall service and nice atmosphere! I'd recommend dining here!
